Feels Like Home
Brendan Quinn has been one of my favourite singers for the past forty years. His special ability to tell a story in song, lifted him out of the pack and made him a star with his recordings of classic songs such as It’s four in the morning, Behind closed doors and Angeline.
Well that’s all been put aside for the moment, because the Mighty Quinn has unplugged his guitar and delivered up a set of folk songs that shows of Brendan’s roots in South Derry, a great stronghold of Irish Music.
The title of the new album is ‘Feels Like Home’ which is one of Randy Newman’s great songs. Brendan makes it his own by reinterpreting it as a folk waltz and the end result is a new life for an old, and a new hit for Brendan.
“Even though i knew it wasn’t strictly an Irish song, I deliberately choose to include it” says Brendan. “But because i could hear the lilt that was hiding behind Randy Newman’s piano, myself and my producer Pete O’Hanlon went digging and came up with tis pot of gold, which is a perfect bridge for me to switch from country to folk”.
“Feels Like Home” was recorded at ” The Tin House” Strabane with the cream of Irish musicians like Cathal Hayden, Dermot Byrne, Ciaran Tourish, Pete O’Hanlon, Floraine Blancke and Nicky Scott.
